Free Things to do in Denver
When the holidays are over, you might want to take time to relax and start saving up for next year. Well, maybe you aren’t ready to think about next year’s holiday season, but you probably wouldn’t mind saving a few extra dollars, right? Here are a few FREE ideas to get out you out of the house and enjoying what the community has to offer.
- Denver’s Art District of Sante Fe offers First Friday Art Walks every month! The first First Friday of 2020 will be held on January 3, from 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm, and will include art from hundreds of artists. Take a stroll between 5th and 11th Avenues and visit all the galleries to see unique art throughout the evening.
- Active Minds is an organization that believes in lifelong learning and fostering active minds for life. They offer classes/seminars on a wide range of topics from history to current events. This January, they are covering The History of Radio, one of the most influential inventions that fundamentally changed how people communicate. - As we age, it can become more difficult to get out and move around, but it’s still important to get in a little activity every once in a while. Walk2Connect is a great way to make that happen! They have organized walks throughout the Denver area where you can meet up with like-minded people while moving through your community. Every Wednesday, from 10:30am – 11:30am, they offer Senior Steppers with Montbello Manor, where their goal is to bring hope, health and community engagement into the lives of our seniors.
- The National Western Stock Show is a big attraction every year. While most of their events require paid tickets, the Kick-Off Parade presented by Arrow Electronics is FREE. And it’s quite a sight to see, with over 40 Longhorn cattle walking through the streets of downtown Denver! The parade is on January 9, at noon, and it runs along 17th Street, from Union Station to Tremont.
